Shibusa Gallery was conceived due to the interest I was generating regarding my collection of British Studio Pottery. I finally gave in to all the collectors and decided to sell the odd piece here and there. At that time there was nobody selling Studio Pottery over the Net, so I set about changing this.
The Shibusa Gallery was born and I strongly believe that it was the first website of its type selling pots. It took almost 3 years to get that first sale. Collectors at that time were very cautious about buying without touch, but after that first sale, we have not looked back. I am a great believer in that a pot whatever its pedigree or name attached, if it speaks to you then it should be bought and cherished for years to come.
It is my hope that in selling classic historical pots and modern contemporary pieces by major potters and unknown artisans, that I can do my small bit in showing the world, that works of art don’t have to be painted on canvas. We are further developing the site to include Fine Art, 20th Century Design and related Books and Ephemera.
